Decluttering & Organising

My Principles:

  • I work with real people, real lifestyles, real homes. I promote ‘tidy enough', not perfection.

  • I favour simple solutions. Systems should make less work, not more.

  • I aim to empower you to have confidence in your decisions. You are the expert on your own life.

  • I believe that we all have the capacity for change.

  • I advocate for doing your best, and acknowledging limitations with forgiveness.

Decluttering and organising is highly personal in some ways, and widely universal in others. You are individual, but not alone.

I welcome clients with autism, ADHD, chronic disorganisation, and hoarding behaviours.

How I work

My process is a blend of two approaches:

Deep listening:
We’ll take time to explore your challenges and goals, and how you think and feel along the way. Understanding exactly what’s getting in your way is key to creating lasting solutions.
Through active listening and gentle open questions I can help you to explore your options, and reach decisions.

Taking action:
Many people who come to me feel “stuck” and struggle to take action. Getting over that hurdle and taking the first steps can often be the hardest part.
I’ll provide encouragement and practical advice to keep you moving along. When working together in person I will also physically assist you with organising, lifting and carrying, as well as taking items for donation.

Switching between these two approaches during our time together makes sure that you get the most out of my knowledge and experience, while still being in the driving seat, and making lasting changes in mindset.

Working remotely:

There are many reasons you might prefer to work remotely. It could be geographical distance, health reasons, or personal preference. I am very happy to work in this way and find that it can be very effective.

Some clients like to declutter and organise during our sessions, while others use the session as an opportunity to review, problem solve, and plan in between their own solo sessions.

Transformation

I am trained in transformational coaching, which is a form of coaching which helps clients to create change through exploring beliefs, values, and identity.

Presence:
I give you space to talk. Exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe and non-judgemental environment can help to clarify and untangle your thoughts. Having a supportive presence in the room or on Zoom can help to keep you focussed and combat overwhelm.

Client-Lead:
This means that I don't follow a rigid system. Your sessions will be fully bespoke, tailored to your own priorities and requirements. We’ll work out how we can best work together to achieve your goals.

Non-Advisory:
I will always ask rather than tell. I’ll help you to explore your thoughts, remind you of your goals and keep you on track. You are always in the driving seat of the process.

The most sustainable changes are those made by you, informed by a shift in mindset.

Sustainability:

I care deeply about the environment, and can help you to find environmentally friendly ways to deal with your unwanted items where possible, including donation and recycling options.
I advocate doing what we can, and forgiving what we can’t.

Interior Design:

I am a fully qualified Interior Designer with eight years experience working in the industry.

My approach to design is similar to my approach to organising. I ask lots of questions to get an understanding of your challenges and aspirations, encourage you to explore your own creativity and insights, and create a design based on this information.

  • Stage 1: Mood boards: If you are having trouble pinning down the style you would like for the space I will send you an online quiz to fill out to help get a clearer idea of your taste. If you already have some ideas I will produce mood boards to tie your ideas together into a tangible look and feel for the space.

  • Stage 2: Design Pack: Visuals showing layout options and styling options based on the chosen mood boards. This is where the design really comes to life and you are able to see your space transformed virtually.

  • Stage 3: Specification: This is where I will list specific finishes, furnishing and other products to make your vision into reality.
